Dwight’s Pound Cake

  • 1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon flavor
  • Optional: 1 to 2 teaspoons lemon zest, finely ground

Directions:

  1. Combine butter and sugar; mix well.
  2. Add 1 egg and beat. Repeat with remaining eggs.
  3. Slowly add flour while mixing.
  4. Add remaining ingredients; beat well.
  5. Put in cold oven (do not preheat) at 300 F.
  6. Bake 2 hours.
